TCU & Access Control Case Study

Tipton School District
Client Name: Tipton R-VI School District
Case Study Type: Education
Industry: Education
Background

Located in central Missouri, Tipton R-VI School District serves approximately 600 K-12 students, all within a single connected building.  As part of its commitment to student and staff safety, the district sought to modernize its communication and security infrastructure.

Problem

Located in a rural area and frequently used as a community hub, the school lacked effective access control, making it difficult to monitor or manage who was entering the building. With no way to fully regulate access, staff had limited visibility into who was on campus at any given time. Additionally, their outdated intercom system lacked clarity and reliability, making day-to-day communication a challenge.

Solution

SWC designed and implemented a customized security and communication system to address the school's unique needs. A centralized access control system was installed to monitor and manage entry and exit activity in real time, providing staff with greater oversight of the building. The intercom and paging system was fully modernized to improve daily communication and emergency notifications, all while integrating smoothly with the existing infrastructure. To further enhance security, access points throughout the building were equipped with key fobs and card readers, ensuring that only authorized individuals could enter.

"The solutions SWC offered were not one-size-fits-all; they provided options tailored to our needs."
