Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital

Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, Indianapolis Hospital formerly Wishard Health

South Western Communications was one of numerous contractors who worked with the nationally recognized public health system in Indianapolis, Indiana to complete the launch of the new Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital which opened on December 7, 2013. This new state of the art, 1.3-million-square-foot facility includes a 315-inpatient bed hospital with 19 operating rooms and four interventional labs, 12 labor and delivery rooms, a 90-bed treatment room emergency department with a 20-bed clinical decision unit, and more than 200 ambulatory clinic exam rooms and an adult Level I trauma center.

The communications infrastructure of the new hospital was designed around technology of the future, making Responder 5 an ideal nurse call solution. South Western Communications solutions can be found throughout the new facility, including fully developed staff terminals for every patient room. Our clinical application specialists worked diligently with hospital staff to conduct in-depth needs assessments, ensuring staff terminals were developed with specific goals and targets in mind. Customized staff terminal programming was completed for the Burn-Hydro unit, Emergency Department, Intensive/Progressive Care units, Operating Rooms, Women’s Services, and the Medical-Surgical floor. Considering patient-safety was a significant focus of the new hospital, it makes sense that Responder 5 with staff-terminals was seen as an ideal solution. Patients and staff will greatly benefit from a new streamlined workflow as a result of staff-terminal implementation at the new facility.
